The objectives of the Java Card Forum are to:

• Promote the Java Card language and associated specification proposals
  to the smart card market and to specification developers;
• Prepare technical documents (recommendations, APIs,
  application notes and so forth) in support of Java Card;
• Exchange technical information among members
  about Java Card and its implementation;
• Propose to SUN Microsystems any useful
  improvement to the Java Card API specification;
• Provide technical input to chip suppliers for chips
  embedded with Java Card implementations;
• Foster dialogue among software suppliers
